Springtime is a magical time in Texas. Nature is once again awakening to its full majesty, the days are longer and the temperatures pleasant. It’s time to consider a day trip. Granbury is a great choice. An hour and half from Dallas and under three hours from Austin makes this a perfect weekend destination or day trip. The drive to this area at this time of year is plain and simple "good for the soul"- Texas wildflowers are truly part of God’s great masterpiece.
Nearby..............Take a Detour!
On our way to Granbury we took a detour to Dinosaur State Park in Glen Rose. If you are in the area this really is a must do especially if you have children. We enjoyed the park together but plan on taking the grandkids soon.
Granbury is a small town with a lot of character. I loved the town square with so many interesting little shops to discover. You can shop for wine, art or candy all on this historic square. Once a month you can get together with friends for a “Girls Night Out.”
Spending the Night...........
If you opt to spend the night we loved the Hilton Garden Inn .Great proximity to town and fabulous views of the lake. There are lots of options for a night in Granbury - Bed and breakfast, hotels and of course plenty of Airbnb's. If you do spend the night try and make the Granbury Ghost Tour. We had a lot of fun, learned lots and the price can’t be beat – check Groupon.
This place is a tad expensive but we celebrated my birthday here and it was well worth it. The ambiance is wonderful, service excellent and the food delicious- what’s not to love! If you have something special to celebrate I highly recommend a visit to 1879 Grille and Lounge. Enjoy!!
Granbury is a great place to take a trip to. Spend a day, a weekend or a week, I’m pretty certain you’ll discover as I did that this town is a Texas town worth exploring!
