Seriously this is.................I know it looks like the Caribbean but this really is Surfside,Texas. Once again I find myself enjoying the Texas coast, this time for a “Leadership Retreat”. Time to spend a long weekend indulging in some well earned beach time. When in Surfside Stay by the Surf at "On The Rocks"“On the Rocks” is literally right in front of the surf, on the rocks. This is a beautiful three bedroom, three bathroom property with the most incredible views. It’s updated and tastefully decorated with everything you need to make your stay in Surfside amazing. This was our second time staying here and we were not disappointed. The deck is just perfect for enjoying cocktails ,early morning coffee and late evening meals. Melanie ,the owner is very responsive and always leaves a welcoming bottle of wine or two. Highly recommend staying at “On The Rocks” any time of year. Out and About in SurfsideThe best thing to do in Surfside is watch the surf........................ahhhhhh...... When you need fresh fish......Go to Captain Mark’s Seafood Market in Freeport. This was a new find for me and I loved it. The shrimp, crab and fish are caught fresh that day and the prices can’t be beat. Eat Out On The BeachThe Seahorse Bar and Grill is a fun place to drink a beer or two and grab a bite to eat. The food was decent but the view can not be beat. The deck is fun and the prices decent- be sure to check it out on your next trip to Surfside. piratesalleytx.com/ www.facebook.com/surfinritasurfside/ And of course when you are in Surfside you must stop by Surfin Rita’s for a great cool drink -the choices are endless ! For something Different...................If you are in the area on a Saturday morning head to Angleton for the Peach Street Farmer’s Market. This was a great little find with some of the most beautiful oak trees I have ever seen in Texas. There are lots of little stalls of local business and some delicious home grown vegetables. There is free music and even better free coffee and beer .A great way to spend an hour on any Saturday morning. www.facebook.com/PeachStreetMarket/ Out and About Some More......Just in case you are wondering...................no I didn't report the turtle............... All too Soon It's Time to Say Goodbye....Of course there is always time to shop along the way. I hit Captain Mark’s Fish Market for fresh gulf shrimp and then The Newman Bakery in Bellville. If you are ever out and about close to either I highly recommend. I also collected a couple of shots of Stephen F. Austin along the way. Another amazing trip to the Texas coast.
